About me

Kaitlan Venuto is a lesbian, Latin American artist based in Chicago, Illinois. While she specializes in mostly in fiber and material art, she is also a multidisciplinary artist who has been trained in painting, drawing, sculpture, and many other mediums that she likes to use throughout her work. An expanse of materiality is something that she values when tackling subjects that are diverse and complex themselves. Most of her work focuses on themes surrounding queerness, femininity, nostalgia, and sensory experiences.

Kaitlan was raised in Gainesville, Florida and was heavily influenced by the artistic scene in the city's downtown. She has always been drawn to combining playful colors and forms with more complex themes. Although she originally intended on going into costume design, she found herself more drawn to the 3D visual. Kaitlan is currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art and Art Education at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), on track to graduate in spring of 2028. She is intending on pursuing a career as an art teacher while still balancing art making and costume design outside of the educational field.

Her work has been displayed in the Harn Museum of Art in Gainesville, Fl in 2023 as part of a display of local high school student's work in Alachua county. In April of 2025, her work was also displayed in SAIC's ArtBash as a part of their annual Contemporary Practices program.
